About
The Old Woking Community Centre is run by the Old Woking Community and District Association (OWCDA). The OWCDA was formed in 1951 by a group of local residents who realised that apart from the Church, there was no focal point in the village.
For the first ten years, meetings were held in members houses and functions were held in Club Butaca, a wooden building situated in Gloster Road where Priors Croft now stands.
In 1961 a piece of land was acquired from the local Council and building commenced. New halls were added in 1964, 1971 and 1980 to complete the Centre as you see it today.
There are six halls of various sizes for hire plus two committee rooms.
The OWCDA is run by the Council of the Association, who decide policy, and by the Executive Committee who deal with the day to day running of the Centre.
